what ai does in design.

  1. Concepts. Many directions for a product before choosing one to draw properly.

  2. Form and material. Shapes, materials and finishes tried in renders before anything is cut.

  3. Packaging. Layouts and mock-ups for local products.

  4. Craft. New uses for traditional materials, made with the makers who know them.

  5. Prototypes. From render to 3D print, then testing it in the hand.

A render is not a product. The test is still the object in someone's hand.

KAISAR's pathway has six steps, from a first experiment to work that pays and travels. In design, they look like this.

  1. Learn. The tools for concept, form and packaging, and their limits.

  2. Experiment. Try them on one product you know well.

  3. Create. Products and packaging that start from Sarawak's materials and makers.

  4. Collaborate. Designers with craftspeople, engineers and small businesses.

  5. Commercialise. Products that sell, and design work for local brands.

  6. Scale. Sarawakian design in national and international markets.

Is there an AI design community in Sarawak?

Yes. KAISAR is Sarawak's registered society for people who create with AI, and AI in industrial design is one of its eight sectors. It is based in Kuching and open to members from all twelve divisions.

Is it only for industrial designers?

No. Membership is open to anyone who creates with AI, or wants to start, including makers, craftspeople and small businesses with a product.

Are there AI design workshops in Kuching?

Programme names and dates have not been announced yet. They are posted on KAISAR's news page first, then on Instagram and YouTube.
